The latest addition to my website is ZateliZyranna Zateli‘s Και με το φως του λύκου επανέρχοντα ( ( At Twilight They Return). The novel is set in a remote part of Greece in the late nineteenth century. We follow a (very) extended family with patriarch Christoforos marrying three times, having several children but also marrying spouses who have their children. His heirs do the same, so the fortunately rich family has a large number of people living together. Inevitably there are disagreements, people dying, people, people getting ill and people marrying. The novel is told in ten closely linked takes, each one focussing on one or two of the main family but also bringing in other family members and outsiders, including future spouses. The stories may be told in conventional manner but often use magic realism and fairy /tale myth with strange things happening, animals such as snakes, hares and wolves making appearances as well as strange outsiders and our family having its issues but also its dreams and disappointments. It is very well done even if keeping track of the large cast is not always easy
